I am based in Hampshire, a county full of variety for the artist, with coasts and marinas, ancient towns, the New Forest, and the start of the South Downs. There is plenty here to fire the imagination. Regular visits to the West Country, especially Somerset inspire with it's own landscape and coastline.
My background in textiles has been a big influence, giving me a continuing interest in pattern and texture, resulting in the use of collage in much of my work. Favourite subjects vary from wildlife in a slightly mystical setting, to the bustle of urban spaces or boats jostling in a local marina.
I hope that experimenting and trying new things will keep the work fresh, while sketching on location provides a break from working on finished pieces and is great for gathering information.
